Ellen Ellen Davison, Owner & Head Swim Coach

Ellen has been a swim coach at The Rex Center since 2009 and purchased the business in 2014. She has many hours of first hand experience working with dogs. She is passionate about dog nutrition and senior care to keep our friend happy healthy and mobile.

Ellen lived in Florida and had a grooming business and spent ten years as a volunteer with the South East Guide Dogs, primarily fostering puppies.

Ellen graduated from the renowned La Paw Spa canine swimming program and has taken coursework in canine acupressure and animal hospice.

Joy Celeste "Joy" Greer-Walker, Swim Coach, Rosen Practitioner & Administrator

Joy has been a pet person all her life, and now has a 5 year old special needs Bichon Frise. Joy has a BFA in Digital Media from Otis College of Art and Design, but she found working in the industry unfulfilling. She went on to pursue an MA in Woman’s Sacred Arts and Healing from California Institute of Integral Studies. At CIIS Joy found the "Rosen Method", a somatic technique that releases muscle memory trauma. Here at The Rex Center, Joy is able to bring together her love of animals and her ability in Rosen while swimming with pups, plus utilizing her digital media skills as the Rex Center’s new Administrator.

Madison Madison Clell, Canine Swim Coach & Canine Massage

As a child Madison learned to swim by dog paddling with the family labrador, now she is delighted to be a swim coach at the Rex Center. Her prior dog was a beloved norwegian elkhound, and today she lives with an active cattle dog/collie mix with stifle issues. Madison is certified in dog massage from the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Massage and Accupressure, and is an avid surfer. It is her goal to utilize her water experience and massage to create a positive experience for each canine client. Madison is also an artist, from cartoons and drawings to large scale chalk art which she creates at festivals and public events.


stephanie Stephanie Salomonsen, Canine Swim Coach & Office Staff

Originally from Minnesota, Stephanie has been surrounded by water activities, dogs and animals alike all her life. Throughout her life she has lived with labradors, beagles, dalmatians, and now a beloved basset hound. A firm believer in holistic and natural medicine for both animals and humans, she is excited to be apart of The Rex Center team. When not in the pool, she enjoys skiing, running, hiking and traveling with her husband. Stephanie & her husband and they basset hound moved out to Pacifica, California in 2013.

Victoria Victoria Laemsae, Canine Swim Coach & Canine Massage

Originally from Finland, Victoria is a passionate dog sports enthusiast with years of experience. She is dedicated in helping dogs thrive both mentally and physically. Victoria is certified in small animal massage by Northwest School of Animal massage and is currently continuing her education to specialize in performance dogs. She shares her home with a border collie rescue Waltsu and an aussie Piki, who train in competitive dog agility and are both avid swimmers. When not working with dogs you will find her hiking, backpacking or training for Spartan obstacle races.

Ilana Dr. Ilana Strubel, MA, DVM, CVSMT, CCRT (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist)

Dr. Ilana Strubel earned her DVM at the University of Illinois and has been in general practice since 1995, and is currently in general practice with a special interest in Integrative Medicine- treating her patients' entire well-being: body, mind, and quality of life and pain management/mobility issues. - She completed training in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy/ Chiropractic, at the Healing Oasis Wellness Center, in Wisconsin, in 2011 focusing on both functional neurology and chiropractic adjustments, and is a certified member of the College of Animal Chiropractors. -She is certified in Animal Acupressure through the Tall Grass Animal Acupressure Institute and is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) through Canine Rehabilitation Institute and has training in Sports Medicine and Conditioning. -She participated in the Donald G. Low-CVMA Practitioner Fellowship with the UC Davis Behavior Service in 2005, and is currently a member of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior.

Cathy Cathy Chen-Rennie, Founder

Cathy Chen-Rennie fonnded The Rex Center in 2009. We are grateful for Cathy's dedication to The Rex Center. Cathy sold the business in 2014.
