dog training classes

The Rex Center offers a variety of classes from teachers in the Bay Area. We try to bring classes that are fun and "beyond the basics" in addition to puppy and basic classes!
Starting in January 2012:

canine good citizen classes 1 & 2

Saturday mornings (4-weeks) with Jane Henner

Imagine how pleasant it would be if you and your dog could walk through a crowd of other people and dogs calmly on a loose leash. What if your dog could wait relaxed and quiet with a friend while you are of sight for a few minutes? Just think of the smile on the vet or groomer's face if your dog was comfortable being handled and groomed. If you have already mastered the basics: sit, down, stay, come, and loose leash walking, then this is the class for you!

Please visit the AKC website for more details.

apdt rally obedience

Sunday mornings (6-weeks) with Jane Henner

APDT Rally is a fun and exciting team sport for dogs and their handlers! Dog and handler teams navigate a course with numbered signs indicating different exercises to perform such as

  • Sit-Down-Sit
  • Straight Figure Eight
  • Send Over Jump
  • Pivot 180° Right
  • Spiral Right with Dog on the Outside
  • Side Step Right
  • Drop on Recall

APDT Rally is different from traditional obedience competition, in that it is fresh and new every time you try it. Every course is a new challenge for the dog and handler. APDT Rally combines the “functional” with “fun” because all of the behaviors in the course are useful in “real-life” situations with your dog.

Course Prerequisites: Basic dog training class or Puppy 2

Cost: $100 per dog for each 6-week session

First class: Bring shot records, check/cash payment, treats, a 6' leash
